Mission Viejo Church of Christ is celebrating its Golden Anniversary, commemorating 50 years of community service. This Christ-centered and service-orientated church is located at 26558 Marguerite Pkwy, Mission Viejo, CA 92692, and has been a part of the community since 1972.
Mission Viejo Church of Christ got its start when five families joined forces to plant this congregation with the hope of sharing Jesus Christ with everyone. The church of Christ is a Bible-based family, and we strive to follow the example set by Jesus Christ.
One of the earliest challenges Mission Viejo Church of Christ faced was finding a permanent location. In the beginning, members gathered at each other’s homes following the example of the early church. As they grew in number, they began meeting at Linda Vista Elementary School.
While every organization faces challenges, some, like Mission Viejo Church of Christ are fortunate enough to persevere. In 1973, following fervent prayer led by brother John William, an amazing property exchange was executed, and the church acquired its present site at the corner of Marguerite and Felipe. Eleven years of meeting in homes and schools came to an end and the church has been blessed to serve the community in Mission Viejo ever since.
Bob Crawford, a former elder and founding member said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our 50th Year Anniversary. We believe the secret to getting this far is that we serve the Lord wholeheartedly with a commitment to be faithful to God and His mission.”
Mission Viejo Church of Christ has a staff of six full-time employees and many volunteers, and we have big plans for the upcoming years. Our stated mission is “Connecting people to Jesus and to one another as we strive to serve our community with the love of God.”
Mission Viejo Church of Christ would like to thank friends and family, and neighbors for their good wishes on this happy occasion.
